Fairbairn Boxing Club
Sponsored by Decimal Factor

History

Sponsored by Decimal Factor, Fairbairn Boxing Club was founded by Lady Trowe in the late 1800s for the underprivileged children of the east end. Fairbairn means ‘good child’ in Scottish. Flourishing in various sports such as Boxing, Rugby, Cricket and Football, it gave birth to famous sports personalities, some of them being Billy Walker, Terry Spinks, Graham Gooch, Alan Sealey and Alan Curbishley.

In mid 1980s, Newham Council decided to shut down Fairbairn Hall, post which the boxing section went alone and found their own place. During this period, the club produced numerous schoolboy champions and ABA champions.

Today, Fairbairn is based in Manor Park with a brand new premises, boasting excellent facilities and continuing the rich tradition of success.
